The 2-day seminar titled “Marine Environmental Awareness”, which took place from 12 to 13 January, marked the opening of the new Voluntary Refresher Training Program offered by Helmepa to Greek merchant marine officers and staff of member companies.
The 2016 program includes, among other, topics on bridge resource management, navigating in congested waters, nautical meteorology/tropical cyclones, solid cargo handling, safety during hot work, ballast water management and VGP requirements in the USA. During the year, 24 two-day seminars have been scheduled in 4 separate categories:
Α. Safety of Navigation
Β. Work Safety Onboard
C. Environmental Requirements for Compliance with PSC
D. Marine Environmental Awareness (recognized by the Maritime Administration of Cyprus)
